#StrengthsFinder #ideation at Radin Mas School #Singapore

Was doing a full day workshop for 80 teachers and found this interesting board that Victor Seet pointed out to me which says: We make a mark our with ideas

That’s sounds like a mantra for all those people gifted with ideation. Ideas comes naturally and sometimes in waterfalls of rainbow creativity. We thrive, drinking on the waters of freedom and playing outside the box of normality

A blank canvas is almost shouting out to us to pen down our ideas and sketch out the impossible. When I first did StrengthsFinder some 10 years ago, the ideation talent theme helped me to understand my compulsion toward poetry, plays, song writing and even inventions. Burning through moleskines with a gasoline-filled fountain pen. Sparking many random thoughts on almost everything that flies into my mind

Needless to say, ideation is my number 1 StrengthsFinder talent theme

Best described by the StrengthsFinder definition of ideation: You are fascinated by ideas. What is an idea? An idea is a concept, the best explanation of the most events. You are delighted when you discover beneath the complex surface an elegantly simple concept to explain why things are the way they are. An idea is a connection. Yours is the kind of mind that is always looking for connections, and so you are intrigued when seemingly disparate phenomena can be linked by an obscure connection. An idea is a new perspective on familiar challenges. You revel in taking the world we all know and turning it around so we can view it from a strange but strangely enlightening angle. You love all these ideas because they are profound, because they are novel, because they are clarifying, because they are contrary, because they are bizarre.

I always knew there was a roomful of ideas somewhere in this world… And I have finally found it

Ideation is my number 1 StrengthsFinder signature theme. So proud of it, that I would love to share the StrengthsFinder definition of ideation

People exceptionally talented in the Ideation StrengthsFinder theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena

For all these reasons you derive a jolt of energy whenever a new idea occurs to you. Others may label you creative or original or conceptual or even smart. Perhaps you are all of these. Who can be sure? What you are sure of is that ideas are thrilling. And on most days this is enough

The genius of Ideation talents is in your spontaneous creativity. You have a natural sense of innovation that can defy conventional thinking

#StrengthsFinder #ideation found not in #Singapore, but in #Hainan (#China) in the form of a #Liger

They are majestic looking. Faint dark strips, golden brown fur and spotting a “baby” mane.

This creature’s existence is found only in captivity and never in the wild. It is birthed from 2 top predator species - Lion Father + Tiger Mother. These 2 animals would most probably maul each other in the wild. Instead in captivity, they just get ‘wild’ and gently maul ❤.

In the world, Ligers are the BIGGEST CATS. They are vastly bigger than either parent species and have been recorded to weigh 900 lbs!

When I heard about this species, the first thing I thought about was that the zoo-mad-scientist-keeper most probably had the StrengthsFinder Talent ideation

Described best by the StrengthsFinder definition of ideation
“An idea is a connection. Yours is the kind of mind that is always looking for connections, and so you are intrigued when seemingly disparate phenomena can be linked by an obscure connection”.

Definitely a 'disparate phenomena’ with an 'obscure connection’.

People talented with Ideation love to form hybrids. They love mixing concepts and ideas in an alchemy of possibilities. Experimenting, doodling and discovering are things that come naturally to one with ideation. So why not mix cat breeds to form a hybrid? The Liger was an experiment waiting to happen. It was just a matter of time, resources and perhaps tourism dollar.

To my amazement, I also saw a male Tiger in the cage together with a female leopard

StrengthsFinder ideation at work! Travelled to Hainan from Singapore and visited an amazing ancient method of salt evaporating using huge boulders. The salt “miners” said that some hundreds of years ago, Chinese salt miners cut rocks into half to expose a flat surface. They would pour sea water on the surfaces in the morning and let the sun do its work. When they return in the afternoon, a salt residue would be formed and they would collect it to sell in the market.
The StrengthsFinder strength that came up with such an ingenious way of salt collection could be ideation (innovation), restorative (fixing a problem) or strategic (better alternatives). My bias opinion, it’s ideation. It has nothing to do with ideation being my No.1 and favourite strength.
